I immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 14, without my parents. Having that lived experience, I am highly aware of the challenges facing international students, immigrants, and those who identify as descendants of immigrants. This sensitivity transformed into a passion that has fueled my academic and professional pursuit in psychology.
I obtained a B.S. in Psychobiology from University of California, Los Angeles, followed by a MS in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University. In 2013, I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from University at Albany, State University of New York.
Clinical Experience
I have experiences working in various settings: K-12 schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, and community-mental health agencies. In those different settings, my roles and responsibilities include educating students of various age groups, providing psychological services (e.g., individual, group, family and couples psychotherapy; testing and evaluation; consultation), and conducting research to further my understanding of human psychology and behaviors.

How I Work
I believe in the power of creating human connection, utilizing accurate information, and taking actions in a thoughtful and organized manner. This is how I live my life and how I assist my clients, whether it is ongoing psychotherapy, brief consultations, or one-time evaluations. I am also a firm believer of science; therefore, my approach is always empirically driven.
Human Connection: Human connection has amazing healing power! It creates trust and safety, from which people are able to explore their emotions. Being able to access various emotions is important because different emotions tend to propel different actions. And those actions together are essential to promote a healthy lifestyle and will lead to long-term positive changes.
Insight & Accurate Information: Having accurate information is important in several ways: (a) it can change our perspectives and potentially how we feel about certain situations, (b) it creates understanding between people, and (c) it shapes our goals and behaviors.
Actions: In my opinion, therapy is incomplete without meaningful behavioral changes, whether it is in the way someone treats themselves, or how people relate to others. My approach to taking actions is client centered. My goal is for you to reach your goal in the time frame that feels right.
